Me TOO ~ only i was 'Full Blown' Hippie ~ it seemed like Peace, Love, and Brown Rice were the way to go ~ it's really unfortunate for the 'Human Race' that it all got so corrupted. . . .

Unfortunate indeed, but I think inevitable.

If history has us taught anything, it is that the desire to force our vision of "what's right" on everyone else is part of our psyche.

Reminds of this quote in Lanford Wilson's play "Fifth of July", about jaded anti-Vietnam War protesters. Regarding an anti-war protest march on Washington: "How straight do you have to be to know nothing was going to come from it? 🤔 "

Great line! That play was written in 1978, while the futility of the failed Vietnam War was still fresh. Hard to imagine the bitterness that generated in many. To have lost so many lives, created such animosities between generations, friends, families, etc. All for nothing!

Eric. We should have met 55 years ago.

Sadly, those few who remain and keep in touch have now turned into radical liberals and many were programmers of children in public schools. What a world. What a world. And so it goes

I hear you. The idea that government is the first and best way to "fix" everything is almost automatically assumed, rather than being self-determined people of integrity, honour, and generosity.

Frederic Bastiat has been ignored when he said, "Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else."

Late to the party and a kid when the Vietnamese war ended, freedom today seems to have become an opportunity for many to take advantage of others and boast about it. Be proud of it. This Makes me sick and wonder who raised these folks. To that end, I’m reminded of George costanza waiting for the pay phone in the Chinese restaurant. …”we’re living in a society! “…. Are we not?
